Šamorín is a city in the Upper-Rye Island holding rich history.
Even by the rapid development of the past years it still has kept its homely and familiar character.
The public places, the architecture and the quality of urban-development, as well as, the extensive green areas outside and within the town, determines the local population’s living conditions. The town’s strength is in its many faces and forms: thanks to its schools, enterprises it has become an educational and economic centre, at the same time it offers several possibilities for entertainment and relaxation – just to mention the forestpark Pomlé on the outskirts of the town, the multifunctional sports centre or the Danube banks offering a lot of possibilities for hiking and doing sports. The town is characterized by a close-knit, supportive community: in the past the craftsmen kept their traditions, today’s life is enriched by the development of two cultures of Slovak and Hungarian. The town’s endeavor is to make everybody feel at home in Samorín.
